title: Set up your workspace
description: Register a SquadBear workspace, confirm the defaults, and invite your team
order: 1
---

Register a workspace, review what registration seeded, and invite your team.

## Register

Go to [app.squadbear.com/register](https://app.squadbear.com/register). Registration runs
in three steps: **Your details** (name and work email, or continue with Google or
Microsoft), **Secure your account** (a passkey or a password), then **Create your
workspace** (a name and a country; the URL slug is derived from the name and editable
behind **Customize workspace URL**). The country seeds the workspace's public-holiday
calendar and resolves holidays for anyone with no country override on their profile.
Changing it later at **Workspace settings → Workspace → General** seeds a calendar for
the new country when one is prepared.

## See what registration created

Registering seeds three leave policies, two approval workflows, a **General work**
project for time tracking, the joiner and leaver processes, and a holiday calendar -
filled from a prepared set for 25 countries, Poland among them, and empty elsewhere.

Creating the workspace opens a **Workspace setup** receipt - region and calendar,
standard workweek, default project, starter leave categories - with **Invite people** and
**Enter workspace**. Home keeps a short version of it for admins until someone dismisses
it; **Workspace settings → Workspace → General** carries **Getting started on Home** with
a **Show on Home** button to restore it.

## Review the leave setup

**Workspace settings → Leave policies** lists what got seeded: **Vacation** (26 days a
year, rising to 30 after five years' tenure, half-day booking increment, manager
approval - admin as well above five days), **Sick leave** (no cap, auto-approved), and
**Unpaid leave** (up to 30 days a request, manager approval). Only **Unpaid leave**
enrolls new hires automatically; open Vacation or Sick leave and use **Manage people** to
enroll, or the category stays unavailable to everyone.

**Workspace settings → Holiday calendars** shows the calendar. A country with no prepared
set gets an empty one, and requests exclude no public holidays until you add dates.

## Invite your team

**People → People → Add employee** sends an invite; **Workspace settings → Workspace →
General → Verified email domains** claims your company domain against a
`squadbear-verify=` TXT record, so Google Workspace sign-ins join without one.
[Invite your team to SquadBear](/docs/getting-started/invite-your-team/) covers both
paths, the invitation link's lifetime and the join queue.

## Worked example

Northlake is a 15-person product studio in Warsaw. Marta, the founder, registers a
workspace with Poland as the country, so 28 Polish public holidays covering 2026 and 2027
load into the calendar. Everyone at Northlake has an `@northlake.io` Google account, so
Marta claims that domain and switches auto-join on instead of sending 15 invites. Once the
team is in, she opens **Vacation** and enrolls them - Unpaid leave is the only category
they carry on the way in.

> [!AGENT]
> Check my SquadBear workspace setup status, list the seeded leave policies with how many people are enrolled in each, and show the workspace holiday calendar for this year.
